Public interest disclosure
Public interest disclosure and reporting of breaches
Fremantle Ports is committed to conducting its operations and exercising its authority diligently and in good faith so that honest, fair, impartial outcomes are achieved in the best interests of its stakeholders and community.
The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003 (PID Act) provides a process for you to raise concerns you may have with the conduct of Fremantle Ports or a person associated with Fremantle Ports.
The PID Act promotes the integrity and accountability of the Western Australian public sector by creating a framework to support reporting of:
- suspected improper or unlawful conduct
- mismanagement of public resources
- an action involving a significant public health, environment or safety risk.
People making reports under the PID Act are provided support and protections, including protection against victimisation or suffering detriment, as well as rights to confidentiality and to be informed of progress relating to any investigation. People subject to the reports are also afforded confidentiality and procedural fairness.
If you have a concern about the past, current or future conduct of Fremantle Ports or a person associated with Fremantle Ports, there are multiple reporting and support avenues available to you depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue.
To make a general complaint (not a public interest disclosure) to Fremantle Ports, go to the Contact page.
Before making a public interest disclosure, you need to consider a few factors. These factors are outlined on the Public Sector Commission (PSC) website within Public Interest Disclosure – Information for Disclosers and are also contained in the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003. You may also obtain guidance from the PID Officers or the Public Sector Commission.
Your identity and contact details, as well as the content of your public interest disclosure, will be protected in accordance with the PID Act.
