Drop off and pick up passengers from the terminal car park.

This depends on the size of the ship and the number of passengers embarking or disembarking. Passengers embark and disembark in stages. Disembarkation or embarkation of large ships with more than 2000 passengers and their luggage takes 4-5 hours. Smaller ships take less time to disembark and embark. All embarking and disembarking passengers must pass through customs, security and quarantine checkpoints.

When cruise ships are in port the car park is open for passenger pick-up and drop-off. Public transport is nearby at the Fremantle Train Station and bus terminal. For turnaround cruises (where passengers are disembarking from the ship or joining a cruise) there is a free shuttle bus service that operates between the Fremantle Train Station and the Fremantle Passenger Terminal on a continuous circuit (about every 20 minutes) from an hour after the ship has berthed to 4pm. Walking to/from the train station with luggage takes about 20 minutes. Please note the pedestrian bridge from the train station to the terminal is no longer accessible. You can use taxis and ride-sharing services. Shuttle companies offer direct rides between the terminal and Perth Airport domestic and international terminals. 

There is long-term parking at Victoria Quay (Zone 3 dedicated all-day parking areas) near C and D Sheds. It costs $10 a day (plus 0.8% surcharge for credit/debit cards). Please note this parking is not undercover nor is it secure and it is in demand.

Pay for parking on arrival - Pay for the number of days at the ticket machine by entering your vehicle registration (maximum 14 days - you will need to purchase 12 days in one transaction and, in a separate transaction, purchase an additional 2 days).

Cruise or ferry passengers seeking secure, undercover, long-term parking can park at Kings Square Car Park, 22 Henderson St, Fremantle. More information is available from Secure Parking.

With luggage, the walk to the train station will probably take about 20 minutes. You can cross the railway line at a pedestrian level crossing just west of the railway station and then follow the path down Peter Hughes Drive. Please note the pedestrian bridge from the terminal car park over the train line is currently not accessible. For turnaround cruises (where passengers are disembarking from the ship or joining a cruise) there is a free shuttle bus service that operates between the Fremantle Train Station and the Fremantle Passenger Terminal on a continuous circuit (about every 20 minutes) from an hour after the ship has berthed to 4pm. 

The terminal has a café, licensed bar area, public conveniences and complimentary wi-fi when cruise ships are in port. An escalator and lifts are available between the ground floor and upstairs area. A public phone is in the lower foyer. There are no shops. 

A tourist information booth operates when international cruise ships visit. The Fremantle Visitor Centre operates the information booth for ships in transit (i.e., ships with passengers who are day-tripping), while it is self-service for turnaround ships (i.e., ships with passengers embarking and disembarking in Fremantle).

A Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) counter operates at the terminal when a ship is going overseas. More information is on the Department of Home Affairs’ website. There are no shops in the terminal.

Yes, passengers may leave the terminal once their luggage has been checked in. Just make sure you leave enough time to return to the terminal to begin embarkation.

For embarking passengers boarding ships in the afternoon or evening, luggage can be left at the Passenger Terminal from about 10am in general. For some ships, luggage can be left earlier. The Fremantle Visitor Centre offers luggage storage in operating hours Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday 9am-4pm, Sunday 9am-4pm for $12/day.

Visitors (non-passengers) are usually not permitted inside the terminal during large ship visits due to the large numbers of disembarking and embarking passengers. The terminal may be open to non-passengers during smaller ship visits.

The best places to see ships entering or leaving the harbour are on the western end of Victoria Quay (for example, near the B Shed Ferry Terminal, on the wharf side of A and B Sheds, or near the Western Australian Maritime Museum) or on South Mole or North Mole. 

Yes. It’s not common but possible. Contact shipping companies direct to see what they offer. Note that cargo ship voyages don’t have all the services that cruise ships and liners offer.
